Pre-Mother's Day Pilgrimage to the Marian Shrine

May 17, 2019
Gathering in the Schoenstatt Shrine to Mary after praying the rosary

Twenty-one (21) Women gathered at the Schoenstatt Retreat Center in Waukesha, WI for a lunch and reflection on Mary as Our Mother.

The session facilitated by Sr. Irene Ogutu, FSSA, provided an opportunity to reflect on:
1) the role of Mary as our heavenly mother;
2) our experiences of being mothered; and
3) how we mother others in our lives.

The afternoon began with a group lunch before moving into a presentation on Mary as Mother by Sr. Irene. We were joined by the chaplain Fr. Jean Robert Birigimana who provided a special blessing for the women and the votive candles received as a remembrance of the afternoon. We also reflected on the unconditional response of Mary and Joseph. With time for silent meditation, the women were able to walk the grounds and enjoy the beautiful weather. A light snack was had before the women walked to the Marian Shrine to pray the rosary.
