St. Kateri Tekakwitha Mission
St Kateri has had a summer of hope and blessings. The average weekly attendance is up due to summer visitors and some new residents. We have had guest musicians lead music, and we are excited about regular visitors who encourage us and support us. We continue to cherish our priests who are faithful to serve us, despite nearby wildfires and smoky skies. We celebrated St Kateri Day with a special Prayer Service on the mountain above Hoopa Valley. It also happened to be the 25th Wedding Anniversary of Teresa and Leroy Cyr. We had special prayer for them; followed by a potluck picnic under clear skies.
Unfortunately, our Rummage Sale was postponed due to a funeral dinner, which needed to take place in the Hall. Sadly, hazardous air quality kept people from venturing out of their homes once the funeral service was complete.
We are working on maintenance projects and have received some good items to sell for our Rummage Sale, which we are rescheduling for the near future. We had some generous donations for dump fees and have jettisoned some unsaleable items. We have replaced out of date fire extinguishers and put safety markings on the concrete steps. We repaired the water heater and are continuing to work on the fire prevention tree trimming and minor plumbing issues.
Again, we remain grateful to the Black and Indian Missions for the support that is provided for our priests: Father Francis Gayam and Father Fabian Nwokorie.
